Legionella Risk Assessments Birmingham

Legionella risk assessment Birmingham, West MidlandsLegionella Risk Control.co.uk are a part of AMES Group Ltd and offer Legionella risk assessments to commercial businesses throughout Birmingham and the West Midlands.

Legionella is a bacteria that can be spread through water and causes Legionnaires’ disease. It’s law in the UK for all commercial businesses, including landlords to carry out a Legionella risk assessment to ensure the healthy and safety of all employees and tenants.

Why You Need a Legionella Risk Assessment

If you run a commercial business with 5 or more employees then by law you must commission a Legionella risk assessment on your water systems every 2 years. Failure to maintain this can result in prosecution as failing to properly manage your water system can risk the lives of your staff and clients. If the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 applies to your business, then by law you are required by law to commission a Legionella risk assessment on both your hot and cold water systems.

Our Legionella Risk Assessors in Birmingham and the West Midlands

We have a team of qualified risk assessors who will carry out a detailed risk assessment of your premises. This is carried out to ensure compliance with the Approved Code of Practice ACOP L8.

All risk assessors will identify and assess the source of any risk of Legionella. They will provide a written scheme (course of action) to prevent, minimise and control the risk of Legionella. The main aim on any risk assessment is to ensure all businesses, landlords and employers understand their water systems and eliminate or minimise the risk of contamination posed to staff and the public.

Upon completion of the risk assessment our assessors will provide the best advice on which course of action you need to take to ensure the risk of Legionella proliferation is prevented or minimised.

Legionella Risk Assessment Frequency

All Legionella risk assessments need to be renewed every 2 years, and in some cases may need to be reviewed sooner. For example, if your building undergoes any changes or renovations, specifically to the water system or if your company experiences a case of Legionella/Legionellosis, then you may need to update your risk assessment. Failure to comply to any part of the ACoP is not a criminal offence, but can induce criminal proceedings in in contravention to HSWA 1974, COSHH 2002 and MHSWA 1999.
